Selfish

You have learnt to turn your back against the world.
 So when they stab you like they always do,  your heart will be safe.

You have learnt not to trust.
These days, friends are beautiful foes.
Laughing demons, Lucifers in angels clothing.
Friendly enemies.

You have learnt to shut your ears deaf to the words of negativity that surrounds every inch of your existence.
Words that sting like bees
Biting gradually the life out of you.
'You can't be this.' You can't do that.'
'You can't be more than what you are.' You no longer hear them, they are nothing but a distant wave floating away.

You have learnt to know that your identity does not equal to the expectations of you.
You are more than they think,  more than they can ever imagine.
Your actions are the results of your emotions,  a repulsive explosion from the constant intimacy of blood and bone, flesh and soul.

You have learnt to turn to yourself for the things you once sought out for in others.
You give and you take, all to yourself. You smile to yourself, laugh at yourself and call yourself the most beautiful names.

 And sometimes it feels selfish.
All these things you now do by yourself. All these love you give to yourself, as though you are the only one alive.
